Rootstrap for agents and developers.

Everything Rootstrap publishes is available programmatically: a public MCP server, every page as Markdown, and standard discovery files. No API keys, no sign-up. Rootstrap is a services company, so the one action the API offers is starting a conversation with the team.

Quickstart

Endpoint: https://www.rootstrap.com/api/mcp (MCP Streamable HTTP, stateless, JSON responses).

# Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http rootstrap https://www.rootstrap.com/api/mcp

# Any MCP client (config)
{ "mcpServers": { "rootstrap": { "type": "http", "url": "https://www.rootstrap.com/api/mcp" } } }

# Raw JSON-RPC
curl -s https://www.rootstrap.com/api/mcp \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list"}'

# Any page as Markdown
curl -s -H 'Accept: text/markdown' https://www.rootstrap.com/how-we-work

Tools

ToolArgumentsReturns
get_company_profileformat: short | fullThe llms.txt or llms-full.txt profile as Markdown. Read this first.
get_page_markdownpathAny rootstrap.com page as clean Markdown, e.g. /how-we-work or /work/masterclass.
list_case_studiesindustry?, limit?Client, industry, summary, services and URL for each published case study.
list_insightstag?, limit?Recent articles with date, summary, tags and URL.
search_sitequery, limit?Keyword search across pages, case studies and insights.
start_conversationname, email, company?, messageFiles a contact request; a principal engineer follows up by email. Only with the person’s explicit consent.

Read tools return public content. start_conversation writes a lead into the same pipeline as the contact form and is annotated as non-read-only; call it only when the user asked Rootstrap to get in touch.

Errors

Protocol errors come back as JSON-RPC error objects (-32700 parse, -32600 invalid request, -32601 unknown method, -32602 unknown tool). Tool failures come back as a normal result with isError: true and a message that says what to do. Unknown /api/* paths return HTTP 404 with a JSON body (error.code, message, hint, docs). GET /api/mcp is 405 with JSON.

Discovery and machine-readable files

Every response also carries Link headers (describedby, api-catalog, privacy-policy) and Vary: Accept. DNS: _index._agents.rootstrap.com and _mcp._agents.rootstrap.com publish SVCB records (alpn=mcp) pointing here; mcp.rootstrap.com serves the same deployment. Content preferences: robots.txt (Content-Signal).

Limits and status

No authentication, no rate-limit headers today; be reasonable. Liveness: /api/health. Questions or a use case we should support: info@rootstrap.com.
